Fellow of the Data Science Institute (FDSI)

Confirm your mastery in the field by combining your professional experience and academic strengths with a professional credential

Why become a Fellow of the Data Science Institute?

Employers increasingly look for data scientists with both strong academic backgrounds and industry recognised professional credentials that demonstrate practical, specialised industry knowledge. A recent study from Elucian found that over 85% of employers will expect employees to have professional credentials in addition to a degree qualification.

The Fellow of the Data Science Institute (FDSI) credential confirms your ability to operate at a high professional level in data science. A fellow of the institute can demonstrate mastery in the field through a combination of technical expertise, research capability and leadership skills.

The FDSI credential is for practising data science professionals with an educational achievement at master’s degree level or higher in a relevant discipline, a pass in the Certified Professional Data Scientist certification exam and a minimum of three years’ experience in technical leadership, strategic or managerial roles.

EXAM PREPARATION

How the FDSI certification works

Applicants for the Fellow of the Data Science Institute must pass the Certified Professional Data Scientist exam, a three hour online exam which tests the range of skills and knowledge required for analytical data scientists, including that established by the Edison European Data Science Framework’s body of knowledge (DS-BoK).
In order to prepare for the exam, candidates should be familiar with the CDPS exam specification and be able to answer questions in the format provided by the institute. Candidates may choose from either R or Python tracks for the exam.
