Membership is held by candidates working toward a Data Science Institute certification and by those who have earned one. It carries a verifiable Certificate of Membership, designatory letters at the professional grades, and access to the CPD scheme.
You are admitted when you enrol, and moved up when you certify. There is no separate application.
Granted on enrolling in CADA, CPDA or CPDS. Held while you work toward certification.
Granted on certifying with CPDA or CPDS. The Institute's working professional grade, carrying the letters AMDSI.
CPDS, plus at least three years' professional experience. The senior grade, carrying the letters MDSI and eligibility for advisory board nomination.
The same at every grade.
CPD maintains your membership from one year to the next. It does not affect your certification. CADA, CPDA and CPDS are awarded on examination and do not expire.
The requirement
20 hours a year, at least 10 of them verifiable. Student Members are exempt, as is your first full year after certifying.
What counts
Anything relevant to your work with data. DSI masterclasses, workshops, events and microcredentials are verifiable and log themselves. External courses, conferences and in-house training are verifiable with evidence. Reading, practice and learning on the job are non-verifiable.
Learning is verifiable if it was relevant to your career, you can explain how you applied it, and you can show you did it.
Recording it
Your log lives on the DSI Certifications Platform, and at renewal you confirm you have met the requirement.
Membership comes with your certification, and your first year is included when you register. Renewal is then €75 for Student Members and €150 for all other grades. There is no separate membership application. To join, register for a certification.
