Academic integrity and malpractice

Scope

This policy covers conduct in DSI certification examinations. All DSI examinations are delivered online and remotely proctored using Octoproctor. Proctoring sessions are recorded, and identity verification is mandatory before an examination begins.

Malpractice

The following constitute malpractice in an examination:

sitting an examination as, or on behalf of, another person;

using materials, devices or assistance not permitted by the examination instructions;

communicating with any other person during an examination;

using AI tools during an examination, unless the examination instructions state otherwise;

submitting work in a Practical Application examination that is not the candidate’s own;

recording, copying or sharing examination content.

How malpractice is identified

Examination conduct is captured by the proctoring record. Suspected malpractice, whether flagged by the proctoring system or identified on review, is examined by DSI before any result is confirmed.

Sanctions

Where malpractice is found, the examination result is void and the attempt is forfeited. A candidate who wishes to sit again must book and pay for a further attempt at the published rate.

Review

A candidate is informed in writing of any malpractice finding and the evidence for it, and may appeal the finding under the Complaints and Appeals Policy.
