Certification decisions are made independently of course delivery. No one takes part in a certification decision, a malpractice finding or an appeal concerning a candidate they have taught.
Some members of the Certifications Board also teach on DSI Academy programmes. Dual roles are declared and recorded. Where a decision before the Board or the Appeals Panel touches a certification a member teaches toward, that member does not take part in the decision, and the role of chair passes to another member for that decision.
Certification examinations are set and marked against the published specifications. Examination results are determined by performance in the examination alone.
